7 Curvy Styling Tips Plus Size Women Should Know

There’s so much advice out there about how to style yourself if you’re a plus sized, curvy woman. Here’s the thing..there are some tips and tricks to use if you want to look professionally styled. HOWEVER..it all needs to be driven by styles you love, what feels comfortable and makes you feel confident. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about right?

Let’s talk about some easy tips and tricks to easily style an outfit and look amazing.

First, embrace your curves! This.step.is.EVERYTHING. Don’t hide yourself in layers and layers of fabric. That only accentuates the areas you don’t want to highlight and adds bulk. Love your body and embrace your curves.

Second, make sure that your foundation is solid and I don’t mean shapewear. Make sure you have a great bra to lift and provide support. This will give you a nice curvy silhouette.

Next, don’t rule out color. As much as we all love to wear black because it’s slimming, you don’t have to limit yourself to black or neutrals, unless you love them.

When it comes to color, pick 1-3 complementary colors for your color palette, as it will make you look more polished. Mixing colors and patterns is a skill and throwing too many together can be a bit chaotic to the eye if you don't know what you’re doing.

Another tip for wearing color is to wear your favorite color on top and  a darker color on your bottom half. This will elongate your body and make you look taller.

To belt or not to belt. Belts are a great accessory to use to shape your body. Wearing a wide belt, say over a dress, is a great way to cinch you in at the smallest part of your waist.  There are many styles out there in plus sizes to choose from and a  a great staple item to have in your closet.

Length matters. Make sure that if you choose to layer, the layers don’t fall at the widest parts of your body, because it will add bulk to your silhouette and make you look wider. So if you wear layers, don’t have them end at your hips if your hips are the widest part of your body. In that case, you’d want you layers to fall lower to your knees or calves to make you look longer and taller.

Now with all of that said, I think the most important thing is to wear what you love. If you love wearing crop tops, do it! If you like your clothes tight and more fitted, girl do your thing! When you wear what you love, you radiate happiness and confidence because you feel great! And when you feel great you go out into the world and do great things because you feel unstoppable.
